Kevin De Bruyne is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester City and the Belgium national team. He is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation and one of the best midfielders in the world.

He was born in Drongen, Belgium, to a father who was involved in the oil investment business and a mother who spent her early years in Africa.
He visited his mother’s family in Ealing, England, and also travelled to Burundi and Ivory Coast, where his grandfather had oil company branches.
He started playing football at the age of four in his hometown club KVV Drongen, before joining Gent and then Genk, where he won the Belgian Pro League in 2010–11
He joined Chelsea in 2012, but was loaned out to Werder Bremen and then sold to Wolfsburg, where he became the Bundesliga Player of the Year and the Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2014–15
He signed for Manchester City in 2015 for a then club record £54 million, and has since won the UEFA Champions League, five Premier League titles, five League Cups and two FA Cups with the club. He has also been named the Premier League Playmaker of the Season three times, the PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice, and the IFFHS World’s Best Playmaker three times
He made his debut for Belgium in 2010, and has since scored 26 goals in 99 appearances for his country. He was part of the Belgian teams that reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016, and the third place of the 2018 World Cup, where he was named in the FIFA World Cup Dream Team. He also played in Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. He married his girlfriend Michele Lacroix in 2017, and they have three sons: Mason Milian, Rome, and Suri
He is nicknamed “Ginger Pele” by some fans, and has a tattoo of the Latin phrase “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?” (Who watches the watchmen?) on his left arm
