The incident took place around 1:30 AM in Midtown Manhattan, where a hit-and-run driver, involved in an argument, struck seven pedestrians and a police officer. Carrie Bernans, one of the nine people wounded, was walking with a friend when the car collided with her, rendering her unconscious and pinning her under a food cart.
It's truly a traumatic incident, and the photos shared by her mother, Patricia Lee, reveal the severity of Carrie's injuries – multiple broken bones, fractures, and dental injuries. Despite this, she underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
We can only imagine the pain she's going through. Despite her ordeal, Carrie, who became a new mom in May, ensured her child was safe with relatives at the time of the crash.
She's still in so much pain and can't answer calls at this time, but appreciates the messages,' her mother wrote. 'Amidst the chaos of the New Year's incident, she's holding onto an immense sense of gratitude for life itself.
