Sofia Boutella is an Algerian-French actress and dancer. Born on April 3, 1982, in Bab El Oued, Algiers, Algeria, she has gained recognition for her talent in both dancing and acting. She began classical dance education at age five, began rhythmic gymnastics at age ten and joined the French national team at age 18. She later attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Her mother is an architect and her father, Safy Boutella, is a jazz musician. In 1992, the family moved from Algeria to France.
Her surname means "the men of the mountains". Was in a relationship with Robert Sheehan (March 2014-October 2018). Currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Has a tattoo of an inverted cross on her arm, which was made by Jared Leto. Cousin of Shirine Boutella.
Sofia Boutella started her career as a dancer at a young age. She initially gained prominence as a hip-hop and street dancer in France. She became a member of the dance troupe "Chienne de Vie" and later joined the renowned French dance company called "Vagabond Crew."
